Summer School Programme

The Summer school Transnational Italian Studies aims to create an intensive four-day learning experience for a selected group of PhD candidates interested in the study of Italian language and culture from a transnational perspective. The program will consist of master classes, lectures and roundtables given by international experts, as well as sessions in which students will have the opportunity to share their research and gain feedback from lecturers and peers. Participants will be presented with an array of innovative theoretical and methodological instruments which will enable them to inquire into critical instances of linguistic and cultural exchange with a specific focus on modern Italy. They will also be invited to undertake a small research project in various sites around Venice to put in practice these new tools, and to experience instances of transnationality in creative practices with a performance by the Bologna-based theatre company Cantieri Meticci. In addition, the organizing committee will be available for one-to-one sessions aimed to provide specific guidance on existing research. The summer school will be preceded by Transforming methodologies and disciplinary frameworks. A workshop on mobility and human subjectivities, to be held in the same venue (20-21 September 2015).
