Three recent talks on translation by Loredana Polezzi (TML Team)

On Friday 19th February 2016, TML member Loredana Polezzi (Cardiff) spoke at the ‘Translation and Interpreting in Multilingual Contexts’ conference held at Aston University, Birmingham (UK). Her talk was entitled ‘Rethinking the Translation Continuum’ and formed part of a panel on ‘Conceptualizing Multilingualism vis-à-vis Translation’ in which Prof. Rainier Grutman (Ottawa) also presented a contribution on ‘Multilingualism and Translation: Two Sides of the Same Coin?’ . The day was attended by academics, students and professional interested in translation and multilingualism.

 

 

The three-day conference ‘Viaggi per scene in movimento/Journeys through Changing Landscapes was held in Pisa, at Palazzo Boilleau, on 11-13 February 2016. The event was the first in a series of initiatives linked to an interdisciplinary research project on ‘Dislocations/Dislocazioni: lingue e letterature in prospettiva transnazionale’. TML co-nvestigator Loredana Polezzi gave the keynote address for the Traduzione e Mobilità/Mobility and Translation theme of the event. Her talk was on ‘Beyond Faithfulness: Migrant Writing and Self-Translation’.

 

 

On January 7th, Loredana Polezzi spoke about ‘Monolingual Logics and Multilingual Practices’ at the 17th AULC (Association of University Language Centres) conference in Cardiff. The two-day event was devoted to ‘Shaping a Multilingual Society’ and was attended by a large number of academics, teachers, administrators and policy makers from around the world.
